Miriam Quiambao denies Kris lobbied for her exit from soap

Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up Miriam Quiambao clarifies that the character she played on "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" was really meant to exit the show when it did and not because Kris Aquino had asked for its removal.

"Wala siyang [Kris] kinalaman sa pag-alis ko doon. On the first day of my taping with 'KTM', we already had an agreement na 'yong character ko eventually mamamatay kasi nga bad siya," Quiambao told host Karen Davila on ANC's morning show, "Headstart."

Rumor goes that Kris may have lobbied for the removal of Aludra (name of the character Quiambao played) from "KTM" when Miriam chose to support administration candidate Gilbert Teodoro over senator and now President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III in the recent elections.

Miriam not only denied the malicious talk but she went on to say that she is backing up Kris' brother all the way.

"Being a citizen of this country, siyempre dahil siya na ang bago nating president-elect, we really have to support him. That's the only way that this country will progress: if we support the people who are in office," she was quoted as saying by abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Even before the start of the campaign period for the 2010 elections, Kris had already said she won't take it against celebrities who will support candidates other than her brother.

Following the controversial walk-out of her "The Buzz" co-host Ruffa Gutierrez from the show last March, Kris tweeted, among other things, what Noynoy had told her about people choosing their presidential bets.

"My brother Noynoy would like to add that we live in a democracy where we are free to make our own choice for president," Kris' message read.

The tweet was spurned by a statement made by Ruffa Gutierrez's mother, Annabelle Rama, shortly after her daughter's walk-out from "The Buzz." In her message, Rama called on people to not vote for Noynoy.

Ruffa, who had been an Aquino supporter from the start, eventually shifted allegiance to Teodoro after her transfer to TV5.

On Miriam's part, she expressed support for Senator Gilbert Teodoro less than a month before election day. In a message that she posted on her Twitter account on April 20, the beauty queen said only Gibo is capable of uniting the country and its people
