Kris Aquino decides to leave Twitter temporarily

It’s not only her two showbiz-oriented talk shows “The Buzz” and “Showbiz News Ngayon” that Queen of Talk Kris Aquino is leaving—she’s also saying goodbye to Twitter, though only temporarily.

In her itsmekrisaquino twitter account, Kris posted a message Friday, June 18, in which the TV host-actress said goodbye to her 231,697 followers.

Kris' message read: “I received this tweet several days ago- bakit hindi nyo minemention si james sa mga tweet nyo, only josh & baby james? I replied to it w/ honesty. My attention was called by Noy about this. So in the interest of keeping what is left of our privacy- I will suspend being active on twitter. It doesn't make sense for me to leave SNN & Buzz & keep this avenue open for people to speculate & judge. Sometimes being quiet (obviously difficult for me) is the only prudent course when u r the sister of the country's president elect. Thanks to all who followed my tweets.”

Two days prior, on June 16, Kris revealed that her rift with husband James Yap is not yet over.

“To answer one of your tweets re James. We went through a difficult time during the campaign- stress & long hours led to a big misunderstanding. I have never lied to all of u- until now hindi pa completely na-fi-fix. That's y I've just chosen to keep quiet since it's something very private.”

James and Kris’s martial rift, it seems, was caused by a female fan who texted and called the basketball star. In a fit of fury, Kris went to the female fan’s house and spoke to her mom. The issue was blown-up and was used against Kris’ brother Noynoy Aquino during his run for the presidency.

Last May 18, Kris made an announcement on “Showbiz News Ngayon” declaring she has decided to leave her talk shows “The Buzz” and “Showbiz News Ngayon.”

“Napagpasyahan po namin na for the duration of Noy’s presidency, magpapaalam po ako sa aking mga shows that can cause controversy for him. Ang ibig pong sabihin niyan, iiwan ko po ang ‘SNN’ on June 25, 2010 at ang last ‘The Buzz’ ko po is on June 27, 2010,” the Queen of Talk Show shared.

However, Kris will still be visible on TV as she will still be seen on “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” which will be aired until August. She also revealed that a new show is being cooked up for her by ABS-CBN, which could air by September.

Of late, Kris has been true to her promise that she will behave now that her brother Noynoy Aquino is elected president. She has upped championing the cause of education around the country by distributing school supplies to indigent children in the provinces starting with her campaign in her native Tarlac.
