Kris on Noynoy: He's his own man

MANILA, Philippines - The youngest sister of president-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has defended her brother from critics who lambasted him over possible appointments of celebrities to government posts.
"Ultimately, it's Noynoy's decision kung sino ang gugustuhin niya. Ang pinagdarasal ko lang sana pagbigyan ng pagkakataon ng mga tao 'yong mga talagang sincere ang paninilbihan sa bayan natin," television host-actress Kris Aquino said in her interview on "TV Patrol World" Wednesday.
As of now, Kris said Noynoy has yet to complete the list of his Cabinet secretaries. She was also aware that her brother had approached some people who belong to the entertainment industry.
"Lalo na when it comes to the affairs of the youth at lalo na sa arts na makakatulong naman talaga siguro kung galing sa mundo namin," she said.
Although Noynoy is grateful to big celebrities who supported him during the last elections, "he's his own man" when it comes to making decisions, noted Kris.
"He will always be grateful to those na nandoon mula umpisa. Kaya kagabi (Tuesday night) pinatawagan niya sa akin sina Ogie Alcasid, Dingdong Dantes, pero it's really up to Noy. I think it (appointments) will also be based on public sensibilities and sensitivities," she said.
"Pero alam naman nating lahat kapag ang isang tao naging pangulo na talaga, he's his own man.
On Tuesday Noynoy told reporters he may appoint Dantes to an agency that deals with the youth, such as the National Youth Commission, but added, "that's just brainstorming."
Dantes was one of the strong supporters of Ninoy's presidential bid. He had appeared early on in Noynoy's political ads on television.
Also he was reportedly mulling the appointment of Grace Poe Llamanzares, daughter of the late actor, Fernando Poe Jr., to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
He was also reportedly considering comedian Joey de Leon to head the Optical Media Board (OMB), but the agency said President Arroyo's appointment of actor Ronnie Rickets to the OMB carries a fixed term that will last until February 2013.
Earlier, Noynoy said he was considering TV talk show host Boy Abunda for secretary of the Department of Tourism. Kris has admitted that she was the one who suggested to her brother to appoint Abunda as tourism secretary.
Abunda, however, said he was not yet financially ready to join the government. He also cited his current contract with ABS-CBN, which will end in 2011. -With a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News

Kris: I won't be vindictive

Now that her brother, Nonoy Aquino, has been proclaimed the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines, will Kris Aquino get back at those who called Noynoy "Abnoy," questioning his mental condition, and those who have been calling Kris to keep her "promise" to live abroad if ever she'd become a burden to her Kuya Noy?
The Noynoy-Kris "bashers" can sit back and relax.
"Why will I be vindictive when we won?" Kris said in a phone interview with Funfare Update yesterday. "Our parents didn't raise us to be vindictive. Of course, I will always be nice to all but nicest to all those who staked their names, careers and reputations to help Noy. "
But, as she publicly promised, Kris will quit the ABS-CBN showbiz talk shows The Buzz and SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) effective June 30 coinciding with President-elect Noynoy's oath-taking, although she will continue to do soaps. Those shows are vulnerable to intrigues that could, like in the past, get Kris in hot water.
"I don't want to give Noy stress," said Kris.
Saying her family owes it to the people, Kris said that her and her sisters (Ballsy, Viel and Pinky's) priority is "giving back to the people" by helping their Kuya Noy build a better Philippines. Yesterday, Kris jumpstarted her project to help her Kuya Noy in the areas of, among others, feeding the poor and providing them education. First stop was Tarlac, to be followed by Leyte (in cooperation with newly-elected Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez), Jolo and Cebu.
"My team will feed 2,000 school children. We won't stop with the feeding. From there, we go on to helping them acquire a good education. Boy (Abunda) said he would take care of the Samar provinces," clarified Kris.
At 39, Kris said that she has ceased to be the brat "that I used to be" and has matured considerably.
So how would the "new Kris" deal with her detractors?
"I will just ignore them," she shrugged. "Hindi ko na lang sila papansinin. " Flawless gives away LV bags
Somewhere in this section, you will find a Flawless ad about its promo to give away LV bags.
Said Flawless boss Rubby Sy, "We decided to reward our customers with a monthly raffle promo from June to November by giving away a designer bag. December being our anniversary month, we will raffle off a diamond. We chose LV because it's the brand most customers prefer. "
Rubby and Flawless COO Tanya Quibilan went to the LV shop at Greenbelt and discussed with LV sales associate Miles Ong the Flawless raffle promo campaign including plans to feature LV in all promo collaterals such as billboards, advertising, etc. Rubby requested for a discount since Flawless would be spending a lot of money promoting this campaign.
"Miles was not only happy with a big customer purchase, he personally chose the five bags that would fit the Flawless customers profile," said Rubby.
Business cards were exchanged, and Rubby further asked Miles to revert for possible discount given that she purchased in bulk. Miles said that he would inform the company. However, Miles was only too happy to close the deal and sell the bags but did not inform Rubby and Tanya that permission would have to be sought from the LV HQ if they wanted to feature the bags in the promo.
After a billboard featuring Lorna Tolentino with the LV raffle promo went up in Guadalupe Makati last Sunday, Flawless received a call from LV headquarters overseas to take down the billboard. Flawless was taken aback, because they not only bought these genuine bags from the local LV store, they had even informed the sales associate. Although Flawless did not think they did anything inappropriate they did not want to waste time to negotiate with LV as the promo has kicked off, they obliged by modifying the promo collateral.
One Flawless billboard in the whole of Philippines had caught the attention of the LV HQ. Credit goes to Flawless for making such an eye-catchy billboard with the ravishing LT who looks good enough to be an LV endorser.
Shouldn't Rubby have bought Hermes instead? Briefly noted

Kris keeps her word, distributes school supplies to kids

Queen of Talk Kris Aquino made good with her promise to return to Tarlac to help indigent school children when she distributed school supplies and slippers Thursday, June 10 at the Aquino Center in Hacienda Luisita.
Kris gave away 2,000 packs of school supplies to 500 kids from three districts of Tarlac.
Aquino said in an interview aired on "Showbiz News Ngayon" June 11 that it was a promise she made to Tarlaqueno when she was still campaigning for her brother, President Noynoy Aquino.
Kris is hopeful that she could reach out to more children in the future.
"This year, we are targeting 15,000 children na matutulungan. Hopefully, next year, maging 30,000 na 'yan," she said.
Half of the packs came from Mongol. Kris was given a special (discounted) price by Sterling for the rest.
Reizel Jamito, one of the beneficiaries of Kris' school supplies was thankful to the TV host.
"Maraming-maraming salamat po kay Tita Kris na binigyan po niya kami ng school supplies," she said.
Kris shared on "SNN" that generous souls also donated 2,000 pairs of slippers for the kids' parents.
Kris' next stop is Cebu on June 22.

as kris ask about annabelle rama's public service not to vote noynoy the only words comein kris mouth was " i dont want to talk it muna, marami pa akong inaasikaso di lang yang issue na yan. hayaan nyo na lang. basta ako i dont have any attitude problem at all. but still salamat sa mga pilipino sa pag pili ng kapatid ko even though minsan nagiging taklesa ako but it not intended to anyone, nasa kanila na yun if ma giguilty sila. di ko naman po kasalanan ang maging isang taklesang tao. mas malaking kasalanan pa sigurong maging plastic na tao."

Kris Aquino hints Melissa-Jake romance is over

Did loquacious TV host Kris Aquino just confirm that it's over between rumored couple Melissa Ricks and Jake Cuenca?

In the Separate Lives episode of "Showbiz News Ngayon" aired June 1, the show tackled showbiz break ups, and Melissa and Jake were included in the list.

After excerpts from past interviews of Jake and Melissa were shown, Kris, who probably could not contain to herself what she knew about the relationship, may have spilled the beans.

"Parang wala na 'ata silang dalawa (Melissa and Jake). Ewan ko, ayokong magsalita. Pero parang wala na 'ata. 'Yun lang 'ata," Kris revealed.

Kris' revelations did not end there. She dropped detail on who is pursuing Melissa these days.

"Pero I think ang never surrender si Jolo Revilla talaga, patuloy (siya)," she revealed.

Then, she traced the beginning of the Jolo-Melissa romance.

"Kasi remember before? Saan ba sila nag-meet? 'Agimat?' 'Di ba nagpadala siya ng food, as in, galore. What was the food nga? Tony Roma's ba? Friday's? 'Di ba, basta, tipong ganoon na lahat," Kris went on with her account of how Melissa and Jolo met.

The controversial TV host then shared that Jolo continues to display generosity towards Melissa.

"Kasi daw doon sa last day ng 'Tanging Yaman,' si Jolo ang nagpa-last day. Oo. Hindi siya kasali sa casting, ha, pero siya ang nagpa-last day as in food, lechon, pastries daw, pancit of all kinds. Basta, siya ang nagpa-catering. 'Di ba bongga? Para kay Melissa, siya ang nagpa-last day. Bongga 'yon!"

Last day, in showbiz parlance, is a party thrown by the stars of the movie or a TV show.

This is not the first time that Jolo showered Melissa with gifts. He's given her food and flowers in the past. And on another occasion, Jolo sent Melissa a bouquet of flowers, which surprised the young actress no end. Last Valentine's Day, it was also rumored that Jolo gifted Melissa with a signature bag.

After the Melissa-Jake uncoupling, Jolo's name is again being romantically linked to his former "Agimat" leading lady

Kris Aquino says she was the one who suggested that Boy Abunda be part of the Aquino cabinet

Author: Bernie Franco

"If anybody is to be blamed, it's me." "I was the one who brought it up with Noy," sabi pa ni Kris. "I was the one who brought it up with Boy, not realizing naman that it would cause such a major front page.

"I dealt with Boy with so many money matters.

What's the point, eh hindi naman tayo umabot do'n?"

Ngayon sinasabi ko sa kanya tutal naman your getting all this flak and tutal naman alam natin na malaki ang mako-contribute mo sa Pilipinas, go for it Boy."

Will Shalani Soledad attend Senator Noynoy Aquino's inauguration?

Author: Nerisa Almo

Every Filipino is looking forward to the announcement of the country's new leader in the coming days. As of today, Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III leads the official canvassing of votes at the Congress.

Because of this, many Pinoys are already curious whether his girlfriend, re-elected Valenzuela councilor Shalani Soledad, would be attending the inauguration of the President-apparent on June 30.

In an interview with GMA News, the son of the late Senator Ninoy Aquino and ex-president Corazon Aquino indirectly answered this question.

"Gusto ko yung family ko will be there," he told the media during his nephew Josh Aquino's birthday celebration yesterday, June 6.

He just said that his sisters Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abellada, Viel Aquino-Dee, and Kris Aquino-Yap would be present during his proclamation rites.

Meanwhile, GMA News also reported that the Aquinos have yet to decide between fashion designers JC Buendia and Paul Cabral to design the traditional Barong Tagalog that the senator will wear for his inauguration.

GIVING UP PRIVATE INTERESTS. In a separate interview with ABS-CBN News, Shalani revealed that she and Noynoy have both agreed to give up their personal interests once elected in public office.

"From the start, I think it was very clear naman to the both of us 'yong trabaho namin and kung ano ang requirements nito, and very supportive naman din siya in terms of my career. And of course, ako I understand na bayan muna," Shalani told ABS-CBN News reporter Ces Drilon earlier last month.

On the other hand, Noynoy already mentioned earlier that his girlfriend will have no official role in his administration. He said Shalani would have a different responsibility as councilor in Valenzuela City.

Kris Aquino shares Blessings of Love

"Thank you CD buyer. I haven't sung a single note, but you've supported my CDs and have given me 4 straight Platinum Albums in 3 years. Help spread the word and make this my 5th platinum, okay?"

Thus started talk show host and actress Kris Aquino's personal thank you list found on the liner notes of her latest album released by Universal Records titled Blessings of Love.

For those who remain doubtful about Kris's bankability, her four previous albums were all indeed certified sellers based on sales figures despite her not having to croon or belt out tunes one after the other.

Blessings of Love follows the same route.

Shaped perhaps by the death followed by the overwhelming love accorded to her mother by the public and the impending proclamation of her brother Noynoy as the country's 15th president, the album carries more personal theme songs bordering on love, lost, hope and nostalgia.

Martin Nievera leads the lineup of songs with his own written material titled "Impossible Dreams"--an obvious nod but not to be confused to the classic poignant tune "The Impossible Dream," which is one of the tunes associated to Ninoy Aquino's struggles during the Marcos regime.

"Thank you for giving me such a beautiful song that paid so much tribute to the legacy of my parents," Kris wrote to the Concert King. "Thank you for acknowledging how much Mom's life changed the political outlook of your own family."

NOTEWORTHY SINGERS. Aside from Martin Nievera, other big names who lent their time and talent to the project were Gary Valenciano ("Love Is The Answer"), Jed Madela ("To Where You Are"), Nina ("You Are Not Alone"), Jay R ("Dance With My Father"), Gail Blanco ("Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo"), Erik Santos ("Iingatan Ka"), Ogie Alcasid ("Ikaw"), Noel Cabangon and Aia de Leon ("Kanlungan") and Ronnie Liang ("Walang Iba").

Christian Bautista's cover of Jose Mari Chan's "I Have Fallen In Love (With The Same Woman Three Times)" undoubtedly is one of the disc's highlights. The mentioned track is close to Kris's heart since the lyrics of the song were based on a poem written by Ninoy to Cory.

The theme song of Noynoy's campaign "Hindi Ka Nag-iisa" composed by Ogie Alcasid and interpreted by Regine Velasquez was also included in the album.

"You told me 'Hindi Ka Nag-iisa' the song was an answered prayer that you wrote in just a couple of hours. You literally had a dream and it became our battle cry. Thank you for the gift of music when our hearts were still bleeding from such a profound loss," reads Kris's message to Ogie.

Blessings of Love once again reveals an intimate part of Kris through music that inspires and touches the heart of every listener.

"I believe there's always a reason to feel blessed, to feel grateful," said the TV personality in her message sent out to fans. "I thank God for giving me this life that I wholeheartedly share with all of you."

Kris Aquino's Blessings of Love is now available in all record bars.
